potato armadillos
classes are going well. i don't really have much to say about them. tennis has started and i realize that i'm no good at it. but no worries, i'm getting better. yay.
what would life be like if i were a rolli polli (i'm not sure how to splel that, so we'll just call them potato bugs because that's what i always called them and plus, we're in idaho where potatos are everywhere). anyway, if i were a potato bug, i'd be very small. i would probably like to play and sleep under dead logs and things. that would be fun. and then if someone or something tried to pick me up, i'd roll up, kind of like an armadillo. except armadillos are probably more better at having really hard shells.
i wouldn't really have any worries, except the survival ones. trying to stay clear of birds and things that would try to gobble me up. i don't think it would be fun to get eaten, expecially if i were to be eaten alive. that would be awkward...
maybe sometimes i would just roll up for the fun of it and go rolling down a hill. i always love rolling down hills. i'd just have to make sure i have someone to cover me as i roll down so that the birds don't see. that would be unfortunate.
okay, enough about potatoes.
i'm glad that the sun shines. i'm glad that the stars shine.

spring!
school starts up again tomorrow. i'm excited to walk up big hills early in the morning to get to class. no really, i am. because you know what? it won't be freezing cold or icy.
this semester i am taking engineering math (sort of like calc 2), physics, chemistry, book of mormon 2, social dance, and tennis. i'm kind of bummed that tennis doesn't start until june, but i guess it's a good thing because i need new tennies and it'll take some time to get them broken in. yeah, my old shoes are falling apart... mostly the backs of them... that's what i get for being lazy and not untying them when i put them on.
so, i'll let you know all about my classes once they start. i'll especially tell you about the cute boys in all my classes (haha, just kidding...that's not blog material).
i have a camera this semester, so (hopefully) you'll get to see more pictures of all the exciting things i do. er... yeah, if i ever remember to take pictures. i'm not used to having a camera...
oh, by the way, i did get those jobs. cleaning was as fun as cleaning can be... i inherited an ironing board from it. the boys in one apartment had left a whole bunch of stuff (mostly food...their whole pantry pretty much) and if any of the cleaners wanted something, they could claim it. so now i have a mini ironing board. but no iron... ohwell.
i also got hired as a math tutor. yay! the interview was pretty short and the guy said, "well, you're hired", or something like that. then i had to fill out paperwork, which surprisingly didn't take very long. i was happy about that. i have my first meeting on tuesday. it's gonna be fun.

pumpkin mush from 2006
since there is a lack of other news (or at least enough news to write a whole post about), i thought i'd entertain you with another freewrite.
but first, some news. i might have a job soon. or two. one of them is very temporary: cleaning apartments during spring break. sounds like fun, eh? (actually, it does.) i'm waiting for them to call me back, but if i don't hear from them soon, they'll be hearing from me. the other job is for during school, working as a math tutor. pretty sweet.
it's kinda funny--the past two jobs i had were a cleaning job and a math tutoring job. now i get to do it all over again (assuming i get hired...)
now for the scheduled program (originally aired (er..written...) 17 Oct 2006):
I’m making cookies right now. And I thought that I’d write a free write, because there’s not really enough time in between all the times the cookies are done to do my other assignment. Yep, so I’m making pumpkin cookies. Oh, they’re done! I’ll be back in just a second. Just kidding, they weren’t done; they need another two or three minutes. I guess they like it in the hot oven. I mean it must be pretty cozy. All surrounded by scrumptious warm air, just sitting there doing nothing sounds nice to me. But probably not the oven part, because that would be too warm.
So we have some extra pumpkin mush left over from making the cookies, so we’re going to make pie sometime soon. I love pumpkin pie. (I almost put apple pie there…whoops. I guess that’s just what I think of when I think of pie.) Anyway, yes, I love pumpkin pie. It’s probably my most favorite kind of pie. It has to be homemade though, because that’s part of what makes it so good. And it’s even better when you get to help make it. I like to cook and bake yummy things with my family, especially during Thanksgiving time, and Christmas too for that matter. One food I really like to make is frogeye salad. Actually, I don’t think I’ve really helped with the first part of making it, which I hear takes a really long time. I think I usually let other people do this part. When it’s time to put in the cool whip though, I’m there. Yep, frogeye salad is something we make every Thanksgiving. Oh, and speaking of Thanksgiving, it’s in November. November is my favorite month. Ya want to know why? Okay, I’ll tell you. It’s because my birthday is in November. Last year I remember that it snowed the day before my birthday, and then the day after my birthday. But the thing is, on my birthday it was nice and sunny and I couldn’t have asked for better weather on my birthday. It was beautiful. And I got to go to the Bishops’ storehouse too. That’s one of my favorite things to do, service-wise. I love going there. Helping other people makes my feel all fuzzy inside. Okay, maybe not fuzzy, but there comes a great feeling of satisfaction, or maybe contentment. I don’t know, but all I know is that it makes my happy.
Hey it’s a late start tomorrow. That means I’m not going to orchestra. And that’s because orchestra starts at 12-something-ish, and that’s in the middle of the day so I can’t really get there. Well I could if I wanted to, but it’s only for half an hour, so Mr. Harrison probably won’t have us play, so therefore there’s no point in going. Plus tomorrow is a bishops’ storehouse day and I don’t know if we’ll be back in time for orchestra. Even if we were, I probably wouldn’t go, because as I said it’s not worth it. Or maybe it is. I guess I wouldn’t know because I’ve only gone to orchestra on a couple late start days, and that was a few years ago. I like regular days when I go to seminary at 6 and then right after that I walk to school and orchestra starts at 7:30. It makes my schedule so much less complicated. I love seminary. It’s great. Today we were learning about the armor of God. So we were divided into groups and we were told to construct the armor of God out of fabric and paper and such. I was in the group with Isaac, Jordan, and Ben. We almost got done with it too, but we ran out of time. We’re going to finish it on Thursday. We would finish it tomorrow, but we don’t have seminary tomorrow because it’s a late start day. And because it’s a late start day, school starts later than usual so we have no seminary.
Cassà nndrè says I should talk about her, so I guess I will. That reminds of this guy named Will. And that reminds me of Westley from “The Princess Bride”. I don’t know why that reminds me of Westley, but it does. Maybe it’s because they both start with “W”. Yeah, that’s probably it. Oh the cookies are beeping. I love my pumpkin cookies; they are so delicious.

pirate adventures
in other news, i made some delicious cookies today. orange poppy seed. so yummy. no, i didn't take a picture of them. but i can't wait to eat them all. okay, not all of them; i'd probably get fat and then my (old) roommates would have to eat me. and i guess i should share the yummy cookies anyway. we're having a shindig here tonight with a few friends. should be fun. and if it's not... well, at least there were yummy cookies.

freewrite from a couple years ago
--
I like corndogs; they’re so yummy. I should use a different word though. Like delicious, or divine. Or maybe mouth-watering, or like a salad. Yeah, all of those put together. Corndogs are divinely delicious mouth-watering salad-like yummyness. Yeah, I don’t know what I’m talking about. I don’t even know where salad came from. I don’t even like salad very much. It’s okay, I guess, but it’s not the best thing I’ve ever had. I do like scones though. They are so good! Better than corndogs even. Okay, I’m going to stop talking about food, it’s making me hungry. And it’s not lunch time yet. So we’ll talk about spiders. I found a spider the other day in my room and I trapped it in a Jones’ Soda bottle. Then I found a beetle in my room too like a day later and so I put that in the bottle too. I don’t know if the spider and the beetle will get along, but they haven’t eaten each other yet so I guess it’s all good for now. Maybe one of these days I’ll get around to letting them go outside. Or maybe I’ll decide to be mean and flush them down the toilet. I probably won’t though, because they’re really harmless. At least I hope so. Because if I let them go and then the decided to go and eat someone, that would be bad. Unless they ate a person I didn’t like, but then again I don’t know that I hate anyone, so that wouldn’t work. Eh, I’ll just take my chances and let them go outside and hope they don’t come back to eat me. Yep, sounds like a good plan. I don’t know when I’ll ever remember for long enough and when I’m in the right place to go through with that plan, but it’ll probably be sometime in the future. Well that’s the only way really, because it’s not happening right now, nor right now, and it didn’t happen earlier today, so the only conclusion would be that it’s going to happen in the future. But what if I build a time machine and go back in time to let those creepy-crawlies out of--Eww, nasty I just sneezed! I think I’m getting a cold, because a few other people in my family have one and they probably gave it to me. Not like I asked for it or anything, they just said ‘here, you can have it.’ Anyway, let’s go back to the story I was writing. Where was I? Oh yeah, time machines. So if I made a time machine, it might have already happened, but not until the future when I build the machine and then go back. I haven’t gone back yet, so it hasn’t happened yet, but it might be able to have already happened in the future. If that made any sense to you, then I congratulate you. I’m not even sure if it made sense to me.

x marks the spot
i started this afghan one october session of conference. must have been 2006, i think. i finished about three squares and forgot about it for a year and a half. then i picked it back up the summer of 2008 and finished most of the 63 squares before school started. i worked on it now and then at college, and by thanksgiving break i was ready to start sewing the purple squares together. whoo hoo! i got most of the squares sewn together by the end of the week-long break, but then i had finals to worry about. so it had to wait. i finally got it all sewn up and crocheted the edging on by the end of the year. yay!
wow, that was exremely boring... but i thought i should tell you the story about the afghan.
in other news, i feel like a picture--other than purple. let's see what i've got.
i like this one. we were walking down one of the trails at yellowstone and i noticed this smiley face. someone was having fun while building that path. and i hope those were extra nails and not ones they needed elsewhere. :)
