i've started sewing my squares together. yay! i'm getting pretty good at the whip stitch. :) i've gotten three and a half rows done so far. heh, want to hear something amusing? the afghan is going to be 9 squares by 7 squares, right? well, in the book that has all the instructions for the 63 squares there's a picture of how to lay them all out (which i didn't follow because that's silly...), and it's only 8 by 7. made me laugh. i'm going to hang a photocopy of it on my wall. :)

speaking of frog eyes, i love frog eye salad. it is so yummy!

in other news, my favoritest roommate is gone for the week and i am so lonely without her! i can't wait until she gets back!

favoritest... that reminds me of german. germans never say things like "most favorite" or "most fun"; the superlative is always said like "favoritest" or "funnest". cool, huh?

falling...

i had a random thought the other day, and since the whole point of this blog is to discuss random nothingness, i think i'll share.

when i woke up the other morning, one of the very first thoughts that came to my mind was, "if all the trees in the world fell over, would there be any room left?" hm, good question... as i said, random nothingness. the question remains as to whether it is in fact worth considering. does it really matter? it's pretty unlikely that all the trees in the world would fall over at the exact same moment. and if they did, it would be a rather sad day; i like trees.

if they did fall over, what would we do with them?

let us hope that all the trees in the world do not fall over all at the same time.

snow white banana socks

i have a question: how do you peel your bananas? do you pull the stem down and peel it that way, or do you hold the stem and peel the other end?

i prefer the latter. ya know why? well, because when you get down to the last bit of the banana, there's something to hold on to. if you peel it the first way, there's nothing left at the bottom to hold on to when you reach the end of the banana.

anyway, just a thought...

i hate socks. i hate shoes too. why can't we all walk around on bare feet?

this week will be busy. the past two days have been busy enough... i had a calculus quiz and a physics test today. ugh. i spent altogether too much time in the testing center today... and yesterday was busy because a homework and studying for those tests. that calculus quiz was actually kind of fun; i like integrals. the physics test was fun too, but would have been more fun if it hadn't taken so dang long. oh well. life goes on. besides, i think i'm already somewhat recooperated from it. :)

in german class we're reading snow white and the seven dwarfs. it's interesting how this version is different from the disney version. it amuses me. i love german..

purple squares

i have all my squares for my afghan finished! some of them aren't quite the right shape/size, so i've started blocking them--not exactly a fun job... you have to get the squares wet and then shape them as they dry. there's probably other ways to do it, but this is the way i'm doing it. and it's working. ...so far. good thing most of the squares are already the right size.

and speaking of the color purple, i like to color. i love crayons. coloring books are so therapeutic. yesterday i wasn't feeling so good, but then i colored a picture in the sesame street coloring book that we have and i felt much better. plus there was hot chocolate--that always makes me feel better, too.

you know, sometimes i get confused where to put commas in the middle of sentences. i used to know where to put them, and i mostly still do.. but in german, you use commas to separate any sort of clause. english has too many rules...

melting ice cream

some things are complicated and difficult to do--like trying to write a program in MatLab. it's been giving me a pain for the last couple weeks. i know the basics pretty well, but when you make one little mistake, it's hard to find amongst all the code.

it really is a wonderful program, and i love it, but sometimes it's just a pain to work with. it's like... eating melting ice cream with a fork--it's so yummy, but it's a pain. okay, maybe that wasn't a good analogy...

we use MatLab in my physics lab class. we used it to predict the trajectory of a rocket and the motion of a spring. it's pretty cool stuff. yesterday my group and i were trying to figure out what the heck was wrong with our program, but we couldn't. the graph kept blowing up and it wasn't right at all. oh, blowing up? yeah, kaboom! no, not literally. that just means that as time went on, the oscillations of the spring kept getting bigger and bigger, where in reality they should stay the same. anywho, we decided to get help from the instructor. he fixed a couple minor problems that we had and now it all makes sense! and then we stayed and talked to him about random science stuff for a bit. brother h. is an interesting person...that's all i have to say. i can't describe him, so i'm not even gonna try.
